David R. Brooks
Mr. David R. Brooks is chairman of the board, CEO, and a director of Independent Bank Group (NASDAQ: IBTX). He began his banking career in the early 1980s with a large regional bank and has been active in community banking since he led the investor group that founded Independent Bank Group in 1988.
Mr. Brooks earned a BBA and MBA from Baylor University in 1980 and 1981, respectively. He currently serves as chairman of Capital Southwest Corporation. He previously served as a board member of the Independent Bankers Association of Texas and as chief financial officer at Baylor University from 2000 to 2004. He was inducted into the Texas Bankers Hall of Fame in 2018.
In addition to having served as president of the Board of Trustees of the McKinney Independent School District for five years, he served on the McKinney City Council for four years. Mr. Brooks has been active in numerous civic and nonprofit organizations.
He is a founder of Crosspoint Church in McKinney, a BGCT mission of First Baptist Church of McKinney. His hobbies include running, mountain climbing, skiing, and other outdoor activities.
Mr. Brooks and his wife, Carolyn (BBA ’81), are members of First Baptist Church of McKinney. They have two children, Ryan (BBA ’13) and Reece.
