Xavier Dawes
Mr. Xavier Dawes is a senior electrical and computer engineering major at Baylor University. He also is minoring in data science and mathematics. Upon graduation, he plans to work as an embedded systems software engineer.
Mr. Dawes serves as president of Baylor’s chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), whose mission is to increase the number of Black engineers who are culturally responsible, excel academically, and positively impact their communities. He is also a proud member of the Xi Sigma chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated, where he serves as the Keeper of Exchequer. In efforts with his fraternity, he actively participates in Greater Waco community service and raises charitable funds for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and the March of Dimes Foundation.
Mr. Dawes was recently accepted into the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers-Eta Kappa Nu (IEEE-HKN) Honor Society for his academic performance in engineering and the Theta Lambda chapter of the Order of Omega Honor Society for interfraternity contributions and Greek life achievement. Additionally, he plays an active role in Baylor’s engineering department as he serves as an office assistant for the advisors of Baylor’s School of Engineering and Computer Science.
Mr. Dawes is a recent systems design engineering intern at Boeing, where he created automated programs for the company in Seattle for the summer of 2023. This summer, Mr. Dawes is serving as a product/test engineering intern for Texas Instruments Inc. in Dallas. He is engaged to Kya Clanton, who is pursuing a political science degree and plans to attend law school post-graduation to become a criminal defense attorney. Mr. Dawes is a member of Antioch Community Church in Waco.
