Angelique Banket Cunningham
Mrs. Angelique Banket Cunningham is the former athletic director and track and field coach at St. Michael’s Catholic Academy in Austin. During her career, she coached 30 state champions who broke 11 state records and won three state team championships. She coached former Baylor football standout Jameson Houston while he was a student at St. Michael’s. Prior to serving in her role as athletic director at St. Michael’s, Mrs. Cunningham served on the school’s board of trustees.
Mrs. Cunningham earned a BBA in marketing and international business, with a minor in German, from Baylor University in 2000. Originally from The Hague, Netherlands, she came to Baylor on a track and field scholarship after winning the Dutch 200-meter national title. While at Baylor, she became a five-time NCAA All-American and was a member of the 1998 1,600-meter relay team that won the first women’s national championship in Baylor history. She held the Big 12 outdoor 1,600-meter relay record for 15 years and the Dutch national record for 18 years.
Mrs. Cunningham is fluent in five languages and is a former director of the Baylor “B” Association board. She is married to Jeff Cunningham (BA ’97, JD ’00), a member of the Baylor cross country team that won the 1994 Southwest Conference championship. They have one daughter, Mackenzie, who is a sophomore at Baylor, and are members of Oak Hill United Methodist Church.
